七夕Chinese Valentine’s Day

Chinese name: 七夕

Pinyin: qī xī

English name: Double Seventh

History: Qi Xi (七夕), or Chinese Valentine’s Day, falls on the 7th day of the 7th month in the Chinese calendar. It originated from the legend of ill- fated mythical lovers torn apart between a sea of stars .But once a year a bridge of magpies allows them a brief encounter. Today in China it is celebrated in a similar way to western Valentine’s Day, with flowers, chocolate and romantic meals.
